Title: replace Motherboard?
Post by: mattastic on August 15, 2011, 11:17:29 am
Dear Gigabyte,

Can you please tell me if you can rplace my motherboard?

Ive had a Gigabyte GA-PH67-UD3-B3 H67 Socket 1155 GB LAN 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard for two months, the DDR slot 2 is faulty, my pc keeps rebooting when I have a stick of RAM in that slot.

Many thanks

Hi there,

you should be able to depending on where you purchased it from. Usually a faulty product should be returned to the place of purchase during the first 12 months for a replacement or repair. You will need to contact the seller to arrange an RMA before you send it back though.

It could of course be the CPU not the motherboard as the memory controller is now integrated into the CPU and if it is down to one channel being faulty then that could be the case.

Thanks for the replies.

I've spoken to ebuyer and they wont replace the motherboars as I;ve had it longer than 30 days.

Would I be able to send it back to gigabyte? how would I go about it?

Thanks again

Ebuyer should replace the motherboard under a RMA if it is faulty but not just replace it with another one of the same or different make. I think there is some misinterpretation there. It is always possible to RMA the board direct to Gigabyte but that is going to cost you carriage etc.

Hi Dark Mantis,

Thanks for the reply again.

ebuyer are adament their not going to replace it as the 30 days are up, I've been speaking to them a number of weeks, and their not budging. The only next course of action would be the small claims court but I dont have the time or the money to go down that route. I have been very dissappointed with ebuyers after sales service, and I obviously wont be using them again.

My only other hope if for gigabyte to replace/ repair it for me.

Thanks again

Hi there,

get in touch with Gigabyte here: returns@gbt-tech.co.uk explaining the problems you are having with ebuyer and I am sure they will do their best to help you out.

I am very surprised at Ebuyers response as I have found them to be very accomodating in the past with my many dealings with them. I think there may be something that we are not aware of here that is causing this animosity.

Try contacting returns@gbt-tech.co.uk which is the Gigabyte RMA department and see what they say. I expect they wil contact Ebuyer first to see why they won't deal with this case.
