Title: Repairing CPU Socket for Z68XP-UD3

Apparently I removed the cpu socket cover because I ended up breaking off a pin.

I've submitted an RMA (hasn't been approved yet) - but I'm wondering what Gigabyte charges to replace/repair the CPU socket on a motherboard.

  Would not have a clue!.....heard of bent but not broken off......if bent you can DIY......physically broken off.....defiantly RMA......You are in the lap of the "Gigabyte" god on that one as to the cost.......Sorry I could not be more help :-\

No me neither. I have never heard of a pin being broken off at all. Seen loads of bent ones probably running into hundreds but never a broken one. You would have to be really carelesss to break one off. :o

Was there any outcome of this? I had some bent pins, sent back to retailer, and now I think the bent ones are now totally gone from the socket. wondering what would happen to my motherboard too.

The 1366, 1156 and 1155 sockets are garbage, you need be careful a lot with the pins.

Gigabyte policy ACCEPTs the socket broken (they change the pin or the entire socket), so they need to accept's to you the RMA request.
