Title: Is 560ti SOC v2 reliable?
Post by: zzz07 on August 19, 2011, 08:04:04 pm
Hello,

I bought this card (Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 Ti Super OC 1024MB GDDR5)2 months ago and last week it begun to give driver errors, artifacts, stuttering... depends on the day really, sometimes it ran fine also :D Well, the thing is I contacted my vendor to make the RMA since seems faulty, as many other 560s, due to a bad OC (didn´t even try to underclock or modify the volts, I didn´t pay for that).

The first option I was given was this card:  Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 Ti Super OC v2 1024MB GDDR5   pretty much the same but with a different cooler and underclocked by default.

Are they reliable now? Cause I can actually change the model for a similar one. If the answer is NO, which one would you recommend me to ask for?

Thanks in advance.

[edit]

I just saw this: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3931#sp

Seems to be the one they wanna give me, right? I see it needs 8pin and 6 pin power. I have this PSU: Thermaltake LitePower 600W Will I need to change it also? Cause I don´t see the 8pin power cable anywhere.

Hi

Well this is a new version of the card and there is not a lot of information arround yet as to what has been changed compared to the original board. I would assume that the original issue has been sorted out and that it runs ok now or there would be little point in releasing the revision 2.0 card.

Usually the adapter leads will come with the board when you purchase it.
