Title: Gigabyte's fan regulation options
Post by: Grozdan on August 23, 2011, 02:21:05 pm
I started this poll/topic so we could discuss on GBT's fan regulation options which are, as we all know, very poor as they are. If we could bring our voice to someone in GBT (I'm sure that there is someone in GBT who visits this forum), maybe our questions could be answered.

What we need:
1. Improved BIOS options for fan regulations for all motherboards that GBT currently provides support for. We need more precise tuning;
2.  More fan connectors on all future motherboards - at least 5, with possibility of fine tuning.

This action shouldn't increase cost of motherboards (at least not by much) but would be welcomed by all proud owners of GBT motherboards worldwide!

Thank you

I think that you will get plenty of support here and such things as the SYS_2 fan header running at half speed should be sorted. I think more fan headers with a better control stucture would make life easier and more comfortable(quieter) for everyone.

I will be keeping an eye on this poll and we shall see how the members feel. ;)

I'm also with you on this subject.
For boards that are sold on their power and overclocking abilities the fan control options are.... well, non-existent and this is an area that could be improved with, I believe, very little financial expenditure as other maker's motherboards have such features included in the BIOS.

Can I ask everyone who reads this thread to vote rather than just leaving afterwards. Thanks.

This is not just a Gigabyte problem. Most brands have poor support for fan control. IMO every header be it 3 pin or 4 must have complete fan speed control and rpm reporting. If not there is no need or use for the header(s).

I would agree Wonderwrench, and that is why I usually fit a multiple fan controller to my builds to give complete control.

Yeah, but we don't care about other brands. :D We want Gigabyte to be better than all of them :) and this would be a really nice addition...

I voted - once I had twigged you need to be logged in to do so!

I am trying a Noctua fan in  my new machine; there are some interesting comments on Gigabyte fan connectors on the Noctua website.

The Noctua fans are some of the best available.

I hadn't thought about having to be logged in to vote! Good point.

Well in general problem is in community. I'm moderator on little slovak forum, where we have 25-50K UiP/day. No big deal, but official GA forums are total cementary in comparison with our forums. But to the topic.

Yes, hell yes we miss some good software like ASUS ThermalRadar. For all OC wankers, good, You can get Your CPU to 7 GHz on air, or liquid, or however, most of the people don't give a damn, not at all. Normal people need stability [check], good software [missing like hell] and good support [missing].

All major companies [ASUS, EVGA, MSi, GA, etc.] are missing some key elements and none of them give a fu*k. That's reality, wake up to it, do something about it.

Hi.

A bit late I know, but the sys_fan headers need better P.W.M. controls.

I couldn't see any were to vote on this using firefox?

my 2c.
