BUT!...........
2. Add GIGABYTE E.O.C.P support. =Was there in the last F3 beta

3. Add Load Line support (PCB 1.1). = So where is it then?
4.Add Load Line support for a different pcb? pcb1.1????
Add Touch Bios support????
Only thing that you can actually see is the entry for E.O.C.P(supposed added features)

I emailed Gigabyte tech and they asked where it was supoosed to be downladable from.
They say it is not official.
Also what is the point of a supposed bios for the GA-990FXA-UD3 version 1 board and said bios has only one visable extra setting and non visable touch bios support for a board that does not allow touch bios?
Also why release a bios for the 990FXA -UD3 that has a feature only for a rev 1.1 board that does not exist?

Yes I agree. Why don't you think they are official anyway ?

Has anyone actually updated with this bios? becouse i get checksum e000, and the one on the giga website was also wrong, as it was for XA-ud3 model and not FXA-ud3. Any official giga rep can confirm that this update in fact works?

THIS is what the release note says :
1.Update CPU AGESA 0.0.9.2 for AM3+
2.Update Dolby Home Theater version
Said so called release note is from the F3 bios on the Gigabyte sites.
So why does it not say the exact same as the one  Mystikalrush posted???
Even Gigabyte tech say those other "features"are NOT in this bios release.
That being so, just where did the note for supposed added items come from?

I updated using the one that I got from the link on here and there is nothing new in it other than added RAM overclocking profiles.
NO touch bios because HOW can it support a touch bios IF the actual bios is the same type as before?

On the Gigabyte sites it shows it for ONLY the FXA-UD7

Hi there,

If you don't trust the information that has been posted you are quite within your rights to ignore it and not to download the BIOS in question from the link provided and instead download the same version from the Gigabyte site here: http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3894&dl=1#bios

However, I for one, have had several BIOS updates that were sent to me by Gigabyte, with permission to pass them on to other users and then Gigabyte have queried where these BIOS version have come from. It seems to me that there is a lot of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing in Gigabyte and this is compounded by the companies structure.

Around the world, different websites are used to release beta and official BIOS updates for Gigabyte, especially in those countries where ther is no Gigabyte website Overclockers and TweakTown being just two that I can think of.

Instead of being critical of the efforts of Mystikalrush to track down and post an early link of the latest BIOS for this board, it might be better if you actually said thank you.

THIS is from the Gigabyte site:
F4
1.Update CPU AGESA 0.0.9.2 for AM3+
2.Update Dolby Home Theater version
3.Add Touch BIOS support
Taken from the bios download page for the FXA-UD7
-------------------------
Nowhere on  Gigabyte download page for FXA-UD3 bios does it show an F3 bios with those added items.

That doesn't mean the information provided earlier is incorrect. Gigabyte never posts the full details of what a BIOS update is for.

Ni I agree with absic it has always been a problem with knowing what has been changed ion the BIOS updates. If you are lucky it will have a line or two if not then you are just left guessing. :-\

If i try and update through q-flash, it says cheksum error e000, anyone had that? got a feeling bad bios update
Title: Re: Official GA-990FXA-UD3 F3 BIOs

It will give you that error even if it is a correct update but of a different size ie they have increased it to make it big enough for the EFI/BIOS. You would need to use FLASHSPI instead for the update.

Hi there,

a checksum error can be caused by several things and the best thing to try is downloading the update again, in case it got corrupted during the download process. The F3 BIOS is now available on the Gigabyte download site here: http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3894&dl=1#bios

Thanks for the help, i've re-downloaded bios, and added 3 files that were extracted onto usb fat32, now i basically run usb and update?
Title: Re: Official GA-990FXA-UD3 F3 BIOs
Post by: absic on September 01, 2011, 08:52:13 am
Yes, basically that's it. I would just add that when you use QFlash to run the update, you disable the "Keep DMI Data" option on the QFlash homescreen first. If you're not sure of how to update using QFlash check here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2441.msg13929.html#msg13929

Keep DMI disabled now, so do i still go ahead with checksum e000? becouse it came up again, updated bios quiet a few times already, and never had this before, slightly worried
Title: Re: Official GA-990FXA-UD3 F3 BIOs
Post by: absic on September 01, 2011, 09:41:26 am
No, if you're getting a checksum error don't try and run the update. It shouldn't let you update anyway but best to be safe than sorry.

Do you get the same problem if you download the BIOS from the Overclocker's link?
Title: Re: Official GA-990FXA-UD3 F3 BIOs
Post by: Dark Mantis on September 01, 2011, 09:51:07 am
It could be that his BIOS is corrupted already in some way and hence the BIOS checksum error. It might be worth using the Backup BIOS to flash the Main one first.

i've tried both OC link and Giga, checksum e000 on both. Dark Mantis how would i use backup bios to restore original one? Still dont understand why cant i update, grrr

The easiest way is to try this. It might take a few attempts to get it right.

You can kick in the backup BIOS by shutting down the PSU from the wall, then hold down your case power button in and then turn on the power supply button, a few seconds later the board will start, shut off the power supply then.   Then you can turn on the power supply again and power up the board normally and DualBIOS will kick in.

Did i mess things up if i just updated bios via @bios thing to F2 again?
from what i can understand is the actual bios got corrupt and even if i throw fresh bios over it, it wont solve the problem?
Now that i have fresh F2 bios, it still wont let me install F3 bios in Qflash, however @bios might be able to do it through the update from file option, but i dont really want to use that as am not 100% sure of the outcome

If the BIOS is corrupt the ONLY way to recover is to flash it from the Backup BIOS.

Just done all those steps you described earlier, it did retrieve bios, from dual bios, cant remember exactly what it said. After that, i've tried to update again and checksum e000 again, well confused at this point, can both of my bioses be corrupt?
Another thing i've noticed is that @bios does not have F3 on there, not sure if its not been uploaded there yet

No the chances of both your BIOS versions being corrupt is nearly impossible. Are you sure that you are looking at the correct revision for your motherboard as well as model number ?

Pretty sure i am, not the first board i've done, and i've updated this one as well. I've done the power trick to restore bios and it did, but problem did not go away. downloading bios for giga site or the overclockers link didnt help even though my board is ga-990fxa-ud3. I've no idea what could cause this. Have you got anything that i could try? maybe i should wait for @bios to have F3 available? becouse currently theres only F2, really confiused about all this.. no idea what to do
Title: Re: Official GA-990FXA-UD3 F3 BIOs
Post by: Dark Mantis on September 01, 2011, 05:41:18 pm
Yes it is strange. We don't normally recommend the use of @BIOS as iot runs on top of the operating system and is therefore far more likely to go wrong or fail totally which will corrupt the BIOS. That is why we usually advise using QFlash utility instead. The only time when @BIOS is best is when QFlash wont accept the BIOS file because of the change of size ie when the file changed from 1MB to over 2MB because it changed from BIOS to EFI.

I cant recall if mine said checksum error, but i do remember seeing Checksum e000 and it still installed successfully, even cpu-z says f3 as my bios version.

Just a quick update. I used @bios to update, it said current available bios was F3, but when everything was done bios said F4, not sure if that was a mistake but system boots up with no trouble. No visible changes in bios

Some of the changes made to BIOS versions are only small tweaks and unless you knew what to look for you probably wouldn't notice them. I don't know why the F3/F4 mix up but it doesn't matter as long as everything is working alright now. ;)

So far so good. I would report back in a week or so, i had trouble with ssd freezing time to time and also, bios wouldnt go any further if on boot id press dell or f12 few times. But now seems to be okey. Thanks for all the help
