I had the GA-z68x-ud7-b3 board for a few months only. This morning when I try to start my pc, it won't boot anymore. So I decide to reinstall windows x64 all over again since I'm getting the new revo 3 x2 drive anyway. To my dismay, it just cannot enter the bios setup by pressing the DELETE key no matter how I try. The same thing happens when I try to try the F9 key, END key and also the F12 key to change the boot drive so that I can install windows from my pen drive. I'm at my wits end. Can anyone tell me whether the board has died. Any solutions to my problem are greatly welcome before I decide to get a new board.

Hi and welcome.
Firstly don't panic! It is probably nothing much. Have you tried swapping out the keyboard with a PS2 version ?
The next thing to try is to clear the CMOS.
Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.
Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.
Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.
You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.
Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

Dark Mantis. Thanks it works. But when I try to go into the bios after a windows restart, it fails go into the bios again after numerous attempts by pressing the 'delete' key. Even it fails the launch the boot menu by pressing the 'F12' key, though the system will boot into windows smoothly without problem. I don't know what is happening to the board. ???

I'm usimg touch bios utility now to change the bios settings. The manual mode of accessing the bios during POST does not work anymore. I don't know why. Anybody has the same problem as me with this GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 board ? Clearing CMOS and removing battery for a while works only in the first attempt but fails in the sebsequent tries ???? It is intriguing.

PS2 connection works fine... USB Legacy enabled just doesn't work. Tried 2 different Bios (the one that came with the board & latest) & different keyboards. Lights are "On", on the keyboard during the post screen.. But.. Can't get into the Bios with a USB Keyboard. Tried Dark Mantis "solution".. doesn't work..

I also had problems with entering the bios. Clearing the cmos only worked once for me as well. http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,6851.0.html
But you have to notice it was not a keyboard issue for my part.
After long testing, it seemed that my bios (F1) was a corrupt bios. I have the Z68XP-UD5 and a flash to the bios F4 solved it.

Glad it worked but it sounds as if you still haven't got access to the BIOS because of no USB enabled in the BIOS. Go into the BIOS and enable Legacy USB Devices or something like that. You then should have use of the USB keyboard during DOS sessions before Windows loads the drivers.

I will try this one out and also will try switching to the PS2 keyboard later today to seee if these solutions work.

Enable USB legacy device option is already enabled in the bios. The other solution is to try to use PS2 keyboard. I will try to borrow it from someone to see if it works.

It usually has the desired effect when USB keyboards give problems. I always keep one around just for doing BIOS work etc.

Yes. You are right. I plugged in a PS2 keyboard and viola it works. I will get myself a brand new PS2 keybaord now. As for USB keyboard, I manage get into bios setup once in about 30 tries only. I don't know why it is. But anyway thanks for your suggestion and helped solved my problem.Many thanks to those who reply esp. Dark Mantis. :D

Great that it works for you with a PS2 keyboard, but it has to be noticed that nowdays this should not be a problem.....It's 2011, why would a highend motherboard be troubled by some usb keyboards?

Yes indeed, you are right that nowsaday USB keyboard should not pose any problem. I have been using my USB keyboard to access the bios without any issue for the past couple of months until recently when I flashed it to the new F9C bios to get the revo 3 x2 working. Flashed back to F7 and the problem still persists. I don't know why it behaves in an erratic manner - sometimes I can get into the bios after about 20-30 restart attempts. Clearing CMOS and Battery removal for a while does not always work for me. Maybe GIGABYTE should look into it. Anyway I will just use the PS2 keyboard if I need to change some bios settings.

Yes I would have to agree that in theory it shouldn't be a problem and it is something that I think Gigabyte does need to look into more deeply. The USB circuit seems to have a certain inherant issue that can effect it when trying to use it for entering the BIOS etc like here and also when trying to load data from a USB drive when in a DOS session. This seems to be the connecting factor that the problems are only when in a pre-Windows environment. All USB drives seem to work alright when in Windows but some fail in DOS.
Hopefully they GGTS will look into it as it has been an issue for a long time now.

Try going with the F9D Bios (solved my problems).
There also is a F9E version but I couldn't find out what it fixes (or maybe not)...

This is more a failure of development of this MB but the solution is simple:
Plug the keyboard and mouse next to the PS2 port.
It will work!
(sorry for bad english)
