Title: Broken CPU socket pin Z68X-UD4-B3
Post by: COYS on October 05, 2011, 12:40:50 am
Hi all

I've had this board for under a week and couldn't get it working with any sticks of RAM in either or both of the channel A slots (the 2 slots closest to the CPU). It works fine with 1 or 2 sticks in the other 2 slots but obviously wasn't operating in dual channel mode.

I was taking it apart tonight to RMA to the retailer but to my horror one of the CPU pins is broken off. Theres's no way they'll take it back now so I was wondering if I could return it to Gigabyte to fix for me (and also test the RAM sockets to make sure the broken CPU socket pin wasn't the cause of this problem, and if there may be another problem).

I appreciate this probably won't be without charge as it has to be my fault. If anyone has had any experiences of this I'd greatly appreciate your help please  :)

I asked the same question in 2009 and they said they would accept a motherboard back under warranty.  :)

You can only ask COYS! .....You can only ask!

If they do except it under warranty ....could you post back and let us know for future recommendations.....normally it's a "point of sale affair" but there alway the option of directly to Gigabyte ..... the worst is a bill ;)

Hi and welcome.

I don't know how it happened and we shall never know to be honest but Gigabyte UK norally has a very fair approach to this type of "accident" and will accept the motherboard for repair on a purely one off basis on the understanding that if it were to happen again on your head be it! Try contacting the RMA department here:

If you have any problems PM me and I will try and put you in touch with someone who can help.
