Title: Zalman 9700NT
Post by: fadsarmy on October 15, 2009, 05:45:18 pm
I just bought this cooler to use with 965 BE. The problem is I can only attach this cooler with fan blowing either towards the top of the case or the bottom, because of the clip position of the Zalman cooler and the cpu retention bracket. Ideally, I would have liked to attach it so the fan blows into the rear 120mm fan. I have attached it with fan blowing towards the top of the case straight into the 120mm PSU fan. Is this a bad idea?

Hi,
Bad choice for AMD mobos,
The manufactures Havent thought this through properly, they should have designed a mounting bracket with more options for exhaust discharge,
I would in your circumstances  contact the manufacturer and ask them if they make a a different clamp assy to exhaust to the rear,
As you got it< I would exhaust towards the graphics card, and reverse any side panel fans to extraction,
Far better than shoving hot air into your PSU,
Others here may come up with another option,
regards

Ok this zalmann 9700nt can face any one of the 4 directions so what are you guys talking about. Have you not went to the zalmann site and even looked at the instructions. Correct me if im wrong  but when i got the 9700 i was the same way till i went to zalmann and saw hot to do it right.

Yes I did figure it out a while back but eventually had to use a different cooler. For some reason the 9700NT fan was behaving weird on my mobo even though I tried PWM and auto bios settings. At cpu 40 C it would run at 1200rpm and at 41 it would shoot up to 2100 so was too noisy for me.
