Title: Analogue of Asus Anti-Surge on Gigabyte motherboards

Hello everybody!

I dont realise why gigabyte engineers dont implement overvoltage protection against broken PSUs on their motherboards?

Thats why I am asking. This friday I was building a new office system with brand new Celeron G530, Gigabyte h61m-s2v-b3 and Gigabyte GZ-P5 case with Qdion 400 PSU inside.

When I plugged in PSU a power cord I've heard a loud "click" sound from PSU. Since I didnt feel any burning smell I decided to turn system on.
After that the system goes up for a 3-4 seconds and shutdown (infinite).

Even after changing the PSU and building system outside of the case effect was the same. I've left only processor with motherboard and it didnt help. No beep, just infinite up and shutdown.

I like gigabyte motherboards but its sad to think if it would be an asus motherboard with anti-surge protection it would left alive.

Sorry for my english and I would appreciate for any advice.

Hi and welcome.

I am not sure what you expect me to say as I have no more to do with Gigabyte's design and research department than you do. There ar emany things that I would like to see them impliment on their motherboards but it is not as if they are going to take any notice of me whatsoever. The thing is what one company include in their design brief another doesn't and vice versa.  Otherwise they would all be the same and there would be no point having competing companies.
