Title: USB2.0 versus USB3.0 speeds
Post by: Dark Mantis on November 01, 2011, 06:55:58 am
Just as a matter of interest I have just run two benchmarks on a 1 TB Samsung F3 hard disk drive. Exactly as it came from Ebuyer with no optimisations done to anything I ran once on a USB2.0 port and then again on a USB3.0 port. I have posted the two results here for anyone who is interested.

Not too shabby!..... although there's 6x more through-put over SATA2 ..... looks like you've topped out on the plattered physical limit that spinning drives give us

Still 130-140 is excellent off a TB drive period......you won't get anymore out of it even on fire-wire

No I was quite pleased with the result although I wasn't particularly trying to get good performance I just wanted a comparitive test between the two specs.
