Title: Accidentally flashed my GV-N560UD-1GI with GV-N560OC-1GI
Post by: Arkle on November 22, 2011, 10:24:14 pm
Hi

I have accidentally flashed my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti (GV-N560UD-1GI) card with the Bios for GV-N560OC-1GI (F13).
I know, whoops. Clearly wasn't paying enough attention. It's not really causing me any issues, but it's running a little warmer than it used to, as well as being a bit louder on scenes where the fps is over a few hundred. I've stopped this for now by forcing Vsync on everything, which isn't ideal.

The BIOS for my GV-N560UD-1GI is not on the Gigabyte site, could somebody please direct/send me the current BIOS version for this card so I can flash back to the correct bios? Please contact me via PM here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=38445 for my e-mail address.

Thanks

Edit: I should also add that I've submitted a ticket on http://ggts.gigabyte.com/ (http://ggts.gigabyte.com/) when I posted this thread, so if I receive a decent response I'll be sure to update in case anybody runs into a similar issue.

Thank you Allan

Unfortunately, they don't appear to have anything there for me other than drivers. However, I've stumbled across http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?page=1&architecture=&manufacturer=Gigabyte&model=GTX+560+Ti&interface=&memSize=0 (http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?page=1&architecture=&manufacturer=Gigabyte&model=GTX+560+Ti&interface=&memSize=0) while searching Tweak Town which may be of use until I get the proper BIOS back.

Tried a few of them so far. One is working, but still giving me a sound when it's rendering. Easily replicated using Kombustor.
Others just won't play ball.

In the middle of building another computer for my brother so I'm going to try it in another system, see if I get the same issues.

Hi

I have accidentally flashed my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
::)

Next time, just overclock your card using Afterburner or something. Whenever you flash the bios on your card, always backup the original.

I made a copy of my bios using GPU-Z and uploaded it for you to download. http://www.mediafire.com/file/3vs3paybxb5hb7l/GF114.bin

The card I'm using is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125401

I did do that to overclock it, I wasn't trying to flash to the OC to overclock my card, I already had a stable overclock.
I think the reason I flashed it was I thought I was updating to an updated bios of my actual card. I was curious as to whether this would help with the coil whine I was having. I know there's not a whole lot you can do about it, but I was curious as it was getting on my nerves a bit.

However, thank you very much for your upload. I've downloaded yours to try out later today.

That said, the coil whine has actually decreased using the OC bios.

Just as an update, as I wasn't sure if you'd get the notification of new info if I was to edit, I have tried out the BIOS that GeneticWeapon uploaded for me.

Unfortunately, I get an error using Gigabyte @BIOS saying that "The BIOS ID not match!!!", which is a shame. My card's running perfectly well using GV-N560OC-1GI F10. So, I'll just try again if Gigabyte get around to sending me a copy of the original bios.

Still, thanks a lot for your post GeneticWeapon, the intent was there.  :)

Are you using the latest version of @BIOS ? ..... BIOS size and mis-match was one of the fixes in the last @BIOS update....worth a shot!

You mentioned thast the coil whine has decreased since you started using the OC BIOS. That would be right and is why it generally quietens down when the load is higher and why turning of the power saving settings in the BIOS helps. C1E, EIST, all these settings can help to stop the noise.

I was quite sure myself and was chuffed to see your upload, but I don't know, it wouldn't have any of it. Unless there are better tools than Gigabyte's @BIOS for applying GPU BIOS?

I appear to be, yeah. "VGA Tools - @BIOS Version 4.3", just uninstalled and reinstalled to check, because there didn't seem a way to easily check within the program itself.

Hmm, if anything the noise gets louder the more stress the card is under, which seems to be the case across the board from what I've read. Many people have problems with menu and loading screens because their GPU runs them at 500+ FPS. I used to have it quite bad (as well as temperature issues) on a GTX260 I had a few year ago. I'll take a look at the C1E and EIST settings in the motherboard BIOS though. Can't remember what I set them to when I overclocked my CPU.

Thanks again :)

Arkle, are you the same person talking about coil whine on the Hardocp forums?

As eerily similar as that sounds, nah I'm not. I had a GTX260 a long time ago now, had a GTX460 for a while since.
Just coincidence really, from what I've read a lot of GTX 560 Tis have some level of coil noise, so I'm a bit less bothered by it now. At least I know I've not been dealt a particularly duff card.

Hey! Luckily the forum sent me a message to remind me about this thread.

I ended up getting some BIOS from Gigabyte and I still have them saved.

Uploaded for you, hope it helps!
