Title: Question about AMD FX 8120 and the F8d BIOS on GA-970A-D3
Post by: BananasGoMoo on December 19, 2011, 12:32:06 am
Will the F8d Update fix the steam game BSOD/Crashes? I updated to the F7 yesterday and have not tested whether it fixed the crash yet. But I'm wondering if the F8d update definitely does fix this problem? Because I don't want to update if it does not fix the crash.

Thanks.

I agree. The easiest way to find out is to try it. Someone has to be the first!  ;)

I updated to F7 and it seemed like it was working (was playing CIV5 for a long time and there were no crashes [four hours or so, always crashes by then]) but I ended up updating to F8d anyway, going to test it over the next few days.

It seems like the F8d fixed the crahses. Been playing a lot of games on steam and no BSODs.

so one last update.

while the F8d bios seemed to fix most problems, It was still BSODing sometimes. I uninstalled Daemon tools, and it fixed the BSODs. So be wary when using Daemon tools or other CD virtualization tools on a machine with the 8120 and this board (at least, maybe just the CPU in general?). The driver (sptd.sys) it installs causes the BSODs.
