Hi blute.

Sorry to hear about your plight, ( seems to be a common thing), same thing happened to me, in the end I just purchased a new board.

I was lucky the 2nd time as I had the sales guy open up the box in front of me  & check the contents.

I dare say one of the Moderators will help you in this, regards RMA, just be patient.

Good Luck.

Ben.

Hi blute and welcome.

hello oik im new to this so please bear with me.

Being referred to as oik though doesn't actually endear me to you though!  ;D ;D

These things do happen and it is one of those difficult things to prove either way. It might have been done before you took possession of the motherboard or afterwards, there is no way to tell now. Normally Gigabyte UK take a very fair line on this though and will arrange to have the pins on the socket fixed as a one off goodwill gesture. Firstly they usually want some macro photos of the damage to make sure it is repairable though.

I would contact the RMA section and see if they can help you.  returns@gbt-tech.co.uk

I will contact them and let them know that you will be emailing them.

hello again

this is the reply

Sorry, I am informed the damage is to severe and this is seen as user damage which invalidates the warranty. But we are also surprised E-Buyer are not handling this for you as it is only 14 days old and the first year we would expect them to handle and maybe replace (proof of purchase would be required) for you. Please make contact with them again to check.

damn ebuyer i will not shop there again .o well thanks anyways  i'll just save up again

I would advise you to go back to Ebuyer and see if they have a change of heart especially since your case is now aired on the forum as customer satisfaction carries a lot of weight. You can point them to this thread if you want to and say that you were advised to go back to them by Gigabyte. Personally I have always found Ebuyer to be extremely helpful with any problems as I use them all the time.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.  ;)

I am afraid that "dropping them in the hole" just won't work. The whole socket will need replacing as it comes as a complete unit.

Normally pins are bent but not snapped! What on earth did you do to snap them off ?

You mentioned an issue with your ram in the first post, to be honest you seem to not know much about pc's, most motherboards (gigabyte for sure) come with cpu covers that protect the socket when brand new, mine was loose on arrival but I can see how eBuyer are approaching this, although you can't just be left with a broken motherboard, somebody should fix it! If you contact gigabyte and ask if you could send them it and pay for the fix, i'm sure they would. Still I wouldn't lie down and let everyone get away with your issue. I've no idea how your system is booting with a few pins missing from your socket.. (surely impossible...!) I'd try your ram in another system, see if it works there. Wouldn't be buying new ram until I found the issue..
