Post by: Kailash on March 12, 2012, 03:40:50 pm
Hello,
Is it possible to connect a graphics card AMD model with a Nvidia graphics card on the same motherboard?

Here are the two graphics card in question:
AMD Radeon HD5850
Nvidia GT8500 512MB
Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 AM3 +

I love that the Nvidia card is occume calculates the tessellation and the map of AMD graphics advantage.

Is that possible?

Is this to run 2 monitors, one for gaming  the other for general use?

I believe for win 7 it is possible.

Ben.

Hello Ben,
Not anything to do with the multi-screen.
it will be for the Nvidia card handles the PhysX and much more powerful AMD card, does the rest.
basically I'd like to unify the two cards in one PC. one may as Hydra.

Hi there,

to be honest I don't think you can do what you want and I feel it is an either or situation.

For a start, how will the system know which of the cards is meant to be used?

Also there is the very real possibility of driver conflict as both cards will try to take control and fight for system resources. I cannot see how you can assign the different cards and drivers required to specific programs to alleviate this.

I stand to be corrected, but I really don't think this can be done at present.

OK, as they say you live and learn and apparently you should be able to do this.

You might want to check out this thread on the NVidia site: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=192344 as it may point you in the right direction.
