Title: X58A-UD3R: @bios update fails windows 7 x64

trying to update bios from Gigabyte server using @bios utility ver.2.06 in windows 7 x64.
Gets to 100% then a Runtime error Program: c:\program files (x86)\gigabyte\@bios\gwflash.exe - abnormal program termination
(I am running as admin)

tried this with same results on 5 different boards Rev.1 and Rev.2
note: was sucessful using this same utility on two of the boards using windows xp32.
Is @bios not compatible with windows 7?

Download the BIOS you want from your motherboards main page, then use the "Update From File" function of @BIOS.

It's best to use Qflash or DOS when flashing though, please only use @BIOS as a last resort.

Also, be sure you are using the latest @BIOS, 2.06 was 2009 version, current latest is B11.1004.1  - Date 2011/10/04, not sure what version that is after installing, but I know 2.06 is very old 2009)

Uninstall the old version and install the new one

Hi

Make sure that you are downloading the correct file for your motherboard because there are often different revisions for them. This can be found on the motherboard on the bottom left hand side near the PCIE slots. Next use QFlash rather than @BIOS to run the update as it is much more stable and less likely to crash. On the QFlash homepage disable the option to Keep DMI Data and then continue. After the flash has updated the BIOS don't forget to load Optimised BIOS Defaults

I have in the past had trouble with bios updates and have found that sometimes loading
system defaults before the flash can in some instances make the difference when deleting the boot block
prior to the update. If you end up with a solution, please post your results here to be of help to others.

Yes, good point Dave. Sometimes it can help to do this.
