Hey guys.
I have a GA-Z68X-UD5-B3 Motherboard. I was just trying to update my bios from f9 to there recently released update of f10 for bios but I came up with incorrect id code or something. I have updated my bios before and cant see that I'm doing anything wrong this time.
I've looked at cpu-z and under mainboard bios version I have f5...? where it should have been f9 because that was my last install version of it.
Has anyone been having these sorts of problems? Have I missed something?

Hi and welcome.
The latest BIOS for your motherbboard is F10 as you correctly summised. You cna download it here:

Make sure thjat you use QFlash to run the update and on the QFlash homepage make sure that you disable the Keep DMI Data option.
If you are still having problems post back after double checking your motherboard details as it is quite easy to make a mistake on them. Don't worry about the CPU-Z readout as it is using it's own numbering system. There never has been a F5 for your board.

Looks like your BIOS crashed and recovered to F5 if you had F9 flashed in there. So you'll need to flash F9 or F10 again using @BIOS or DOS due to different BIOS sizes or Qflash version, then flash the backup BIOS to match the main so you don't have to go through that hassle again
Here's how to do that, you may need to use PS/2 keyboard or USB to PS/2 adapter

The first listed BIOS according to Gigabyte UK's sytem is F7, no mention of an F5 but obviously there was one anyway.

well I did all the steps in the video and my bios cannot get out of version f5. Is there I way I can turn off dual bios then try agian to set it to factory settings as explained in the video?

It's possible that you have come up against the differing sizes of BIOS problem. If so use @BIOS to run the flash for the first time and then synchronise the two BIOS chips so they are the same and you wont get this problem again.

when I flash bios with @bios it doesnt update itself from f5. could you please explain to me how to go about this?

The video only shows how to copy the main BIOS to the backup BIOS, so they are the same version. If the main BIOS is F5 then the method shown in the video would just copy F5 to the backup as well.
Are you getting an error when you update the BIOS with @BIOS? If so, what is the error? Please be sure you are using the latest version of @BIOS, you can get it here and if you are not sure what version you have installed just uninstall it and install this latest one

To flash the BIOS via @BIOS, please download the latest BIOS version from here, then extract it once. If you do not have winzip, 7zip, or winrar installed, just double click the file and choose where you want to extract it and extract. Then open @BIOS, and first check the "Clear DMI pool" option, then click on the "Update BIOS From File" option on the right, and then browse to your extracted BIOS file (Z68XUD5B3.F10) and click OK to flash

Then reboot to the BIOS, load optimized defaults and save/apply/reboot BACK to the BIOS, Once in the BIOS again set your SATA settings to what you need for windows to load IDE or AHCI, ect, then set your memory voltage and any other non-overclock changes you want to make, then save/appy/reboot again and this time on bootup do the flash backup BIOS method from the above video. This will flash your backup BIOS to F10 as well, so then anytime you corrupt or crash the main BIOS it can only copy over the F10 BIOS as F5 will be gone.

I have installed the latest version of @ bios (x79) is that correct? or should I be running Touch BIOS?
I have a error message of Bios partnumber(AWARD) is not correct when trying to update it to f10.

No, that is for X79 boards. Uninstall it, and install the latest one I linked above

............................... I looked at the box my motherboard came in and its says its a z68xp-ud5. I saw it and my jaw just dropped... All I can do is laugh at myself.

I've mistaken myself and now I have updated my bios to the latest version of that board which is f6.

with F6 being the latest as you mention. I take it that everything is working alright now then. A wrong number in the motherboard model can make a whole world of difference can't it ! ;)
