Hi!
Im having some major problems with my EP35-DS3P rev2 after i installed 4x2GB of ram!
My full system specs
Intel Core2quad Q9450 yorkfield
Gigabyte EP35-DS3P rev2
Gigabyte Nvidia 8400 GS (passive cooling)
4x2 Crucial Ballistix 800mhz running at crucial's default values 4-4-4-12 & 2.0v
Coolermaster power supply 500w
- No OC at all
- I have try full system format - disk checks etc
- Have run 4 different memory tests, many times each and got 0 errors
- Removed all peripherals
- tried different mem timings 5-5-5-15 & 5-5-5-18 with default 1.8 and up to 2.0 (all combinations)
- tried a bit overvoltage @ northbridge (after reading many many topics and suggestions from other users)
The problem is still there
Is there something more i can try before i send my gb to trash?
-
Is your PSU okay? Does it bluescreen when you have less memory in?

Hi oggmonster!!!
crashing with 8GB
crashing with 6GB (2x3)
Stable with 4 GB! (2x2)
- Psu ok
- did one more test by setting the freq. to 667 (crucial support recommended to me this 1) = crash again!
-
How many volts did you pump through the northbridge? You may want to try some more. Obviously be careful. Have you tried the latest BIOS revision?
-
yes, i have try with F6 ! i was to F2 before ...
also have tried the NB with 0.1, and 0.2
same problems !!!
now just got a crash with 4GB as well!! just now!
i think a have a bad slot or something
making more combinations with sticks-slots atm!
but the bad thing is that i can boot normally, i can do many jobs like normally and then it may crash after 1, 2 ,5 , 12 , 20 hours :-/
else i could make some fast tests and see what is going on

I would be tempted to try a 0.3v increase. Also try running memtest on each stick individually see if that brings up anything

You need more NB voltage dude. You're on a P35 chipset--you gotta crank it. 40mm fan + zip ties + voltage = stability.
Good luck.

thanks everybody !!!
nice to have some kind people who advice about your problem!
I think that the 3rd mem slot of my GB is the one that causing all these problems ....
im testing the sticks one by one right now and the third slot gives me crashes even with 2GB ..
again im not sure because the crash coming up after some (xx) hours ...
i leave my system with 2GB on the third slot all night and found it crashed today morning ...
nowi added an other stick to the same slot to confirm.
It is hard to say it, but i wish to got a crash with this stick as well... it will mean that i find the problem!
ill report back soon :)

Haha, that made my day! Brings back memories too! ;)
ioannisp: If you do eliminate everything and your 3rd slot is faulty. Don't throw it out, RMA it :) (aslong as its not older than 3years)

yes man!!
im luckywith this !!!
I checked some old receipts and i thought that the gb mb was 3,5 years old (thats why i tell ill throw it) ... but this finally was for an other system i build in the past ..
i find the right receipt and i have 6 months+ of guarantee !!!cool
