I am trying to update the BIOS on my GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 (Rev1.3) from F10 to U1H using the Q-Flash utility. I put the bios file on a USB flash drive. When I run the utility I get a "Bad ID" message and the update process stops there.
What is my problem and how do I correct it?
Thanks

Hi there,
you are trying to go from Award BIOS to the AMI BIOS and to do this you cannot use QFlash. You need to create a bootable USB stick and use the FLASHEFI.exe tool that is in the downlaod folder.

absic - Thanks for the reply - didn't realize U1H was an AMI BIOS. I will certainly follow the tips in the link you provided in your response.
Cheers

you might also want to check this topic - I recently upgraded from the classic to UEFI bios as well; took me a good hour to figure what I need to do; had I found and read this topic I'd be done in 5 minutes :) still, it was fun to wrangle the procedure myself ;)

Hi Kater,
Thanks for responding. Already viewed the info at the link you referenced; kind of put the bios upgrade effort on hold for awhile. By any chance do you know of a procedure, or reference to one, for saving the existing bios and restoring it if the UFI bios is not wanted for whatever reason?
Cheers,
Mike
