Title: Plan for micro ATX motherboard with AMD 790GX chipset?
Post by: aservais on September 28, 2008, 09:23:06 pm
Hi,

DFI is the first to offer a micro ATX solution based on AMD 790GX chipset with LP JR 790GX-M2RS.

Is someone know if Gigabyte will soon release a micro ATX board with the 790GX chipset ?

The solution of DFI is really attractive for Gamers or people who really need a crossfire system. However, if Gigabyte plan to release before the end of the year an Hybride Crossfire (similar to GA-MA78GPM-DS2H), which also enable the Raid 5 of the AMD 750, I will certainly wait for the Gigabyte solution.

Thanks,
Alain

Hi Andrew,

I also think that micro ATX form factor will not be popular with Gamers.

However, I think it could be interesting to have a micro ATX form factor with only one videocard expansion. On board, we have better videocard which could be enough for many home system and when we need more power, an other video card can be added. The chipset has energy saving features interresting to minimize the power consumption.

The new RAID 5 option is also interesting. An alternative is the NVDIA chipset but with a less powerfull videocard on board.

If Gygabyte don't want to design a micro ATX form factor with the 790 GX, its a choice and I respect it. I will explore other alternative.

Thanks Andrew for your answer and let me know if the Gygabyte plan change.

Best regards,

Alain
