Title: 7970 GV-R797OC-3GD crossfire power needed
Post by: mirkoj on September 21, 2012, 12:18:18 pm
hey guys,
I'm waiting for my 2nd 7970 windforce card to arrive and in the meantime just figured out to check if anyone have good idea of PSU needed for these two?
Ofc it depends on the rest of configuration so in short:
i7 2600k OC at 4.4Ghz
OCZ H100 water cooling, 2 fans on radiator
3 fans inside case (corsair obsidian 800D)
16 gb ram
1 DVD standard crap don't even use it often,
2x OCZ 120gb SSD
2x WD 640gb hard drives
and so far 1 7970 waiting for another

Current PSU is Thermaltake tough power 875W so just wondering if that will give enough juice or maybe 1200W would be needed.
Any guides for power consumption under heavy load ofc appreciated :)
Thanks!

Hi

As long as your current power supply is not too old and working alright I don't see any reason to change it. There should be enough power to run the two graphics cards quite ok but try and make sure that they are on different busses if it has more than a single 12v bus.

Happy gaming!
