v1.0 and v1.1 have the same bios, 1.2 has a different bios so a hardware change.
You say v1.x, do you not know? It's printed on the motherboard so make sure you have the right bios first.
Secondly the update software won't run from withing windows. I'm not too sure about your motherboard but if you can get into the bios, by tapping delete at boot, there should be a built in utility to update the bios, you'll need the bios file on a usb stick for this.
Another option that some people regard as not 100% safe (but I've never had a problem) is from within Windows. You can download a utility from Gigabyte called @bios. Install this and run it. It should connect to the Gigabyte site and identify and download the correct bios for your board. @bios will then install it. Download:
http://uk.gigabyte.com/MicroSite/121/tech_a_bios.htmHowever you decide to do it you must select the option 'Clear DMI Data' for security, this'll make sure all your hardware is freshly detected at the next boot.
Let me guess. You need to update to support a CPU?
