Does my motherboard support..........
« on: November 13, 2014, 06:40:05 pm »
Hi all,

I have bought some new fans for my new Corsair Obsidian 750D case but never realised they were only 3 pin and not 4 pin so no PWM support..

I have 2 Corsair SP120 white LED fans and 2 Corsair AF140 white LED fans.

I am replacing the stock 140mm front fans with the AF140 LED fans and using the SP120 LED fans in a push pull configuration for my Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo.

I have 2 questions,

1, does anyone know if the new AF140 fans push more air than the stock 140mm fans? (I think they are about the same)

2, I think that my motherboard CPU fan header supports fans speed variation according to the CPU temp through adjusting the voltage to these SP120 fans to allow them to run slower making them quieter and speeding them up when needed to cool.  Is this correct? Do I have to set anything up in the BIOS to achieve this?

 Thank you

If you set them up on your CPU fan header you might get an error for cpu fan not connected otherwise they will run full speed unless you have a fan controller.  When you hook your CPU fan to that header it does not run faster unless you are using a 4 pin fan on that connector.
