Gigabyte X99- UD4 Quad memory problem

Gigabyte X99- UD4 Quad memory problem
« on: February 06, 2015, 06:46:34 pm »
Intel 5820k
Gigabyte X99-UD4 Version 1.0 with latest bios Update
4x 4GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666Mhz 15-17-17-35 1.2V ver 5.29

I tried to install all 4 Dimms as instructed by manual (DDR slot 1, slot 3, slot 7 and slot 5) but when I boot I get a continuous beep from bios and it shuts down.

I tried removing 1 DIMM at the time and the problem seems to go away when I remove the DIMM from slot 7. I tried exchanging DIMMs between slots in order to see if that specific DIMM had a problem but it does not.

If I leave DIMMs in slots 1,3 and 5 the pc will boot normally. When I try to install a DIMM on slot 7 it keeps beeping.

Any ideas?

What I ran into was the the slots are very tight. Just make sure everything is seated right.

If that is Ok than you might have a bent pin in CPU socket or that slots is bad.

Did you try it in slot 8. I think the way they are setup in channels is 1a+2a / 3b+4b / 5c+6c / 7d+8d

I just had this exact issue with the same components. Fixed it by reseating the CPU and not fastening the heat sink as tight as possible.
