X58A-UD3R: DDR3 memory missing, help on correct settings?
« on: April 02, 2016, 02:59:48 am »
Hello,
I have a GA-X58A-UD3R motherboard with a core i7 950.

Currently I have 8 Gigs of DDR 3 memory on 4 sticks no problem. (PC3-10666CL8-2GBHK CL8-8-8-21 1.5v) although it seems to be running on dual channels, not DDR3 (no biggie for me). However I wanted to upgrade my memory and purchased 16 gigs of DDR3 memory on 4 sticks:

F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL
DDR3-1333 CL9-9-9-24 1.5v

Whenever I install the new memory my computer has errors. It either cannot find all the memory, only displaying 8 gigs at best, or it reboots 5-6 times and then only displays 8 gigs of memory, if it starts at all.

I have upgraded the Bios to the newest version, no luck. I have tried adjusting the QPI/VTT settings up to 1.35,
the memory Voltage to 1.65,  IoH Voltage to 1.15, and forcing the memory clock to 10666, but no joy.

I suspect I need to better fine tune the QPI/VTT settings; but I have never had to do that before, so I think my numbers were incorrect. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have similar problem with my X58A-UD3R ver 2.0

I feel it's damaged mainboard/cpu, my case dropped with one end of it inch or so off ground looking inside. (old) stock i7 cooler pins broke.
