Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H Motherboard USB Sound problems
« on: June 14, 2010, 11:47:31 am »
Hi there
I have just installed my new motherboard the GA-890GPA-UD3H and have found a "static" like noise through my USB headphones. There's no fault with my headphones, latest drivers are installed but when i plug it into any usb port on this board i get static...... i can connect them to a completely different computer and there is no noise.
All the latest drivers are installed for the sound aswell. Its driving me cray and i cant seem to fix it. Any one have any ideas??

Thankyou

Hi,

Problems of static sound through USB can be caused by bad earthing of the chassis. Have you made sure that your mobo is mounted correctly onto the standoffs and that there is nothing between the standoffs and the mobo?

Also check that the motherboard is positioned correctly and that the backplate for the mobo is not touching the outputs on the back of the board.

Hope this helps

I have read a lot of threads on this forum regarding noise and the USB mice that are in use. Usually the fix is to move the mouse to another port further away.

Hi huys, thanks for the replys....

I did seperate the 2 usb connections as far away from each other as possible. even have theheadphones pluged in the front of the case and the mouse in the back. I still have the "static" problem. I rechecked my mobo positioning and everythings fine, i also took the back plate i/o shield off and theat still made no difference.

Not happy. i know its with this motherboard specifically because it does not behave like this on any other system. its just frustrating that  i cant find the answer.

If you are sure that it is specific to that motherboard just RMA it and get a new board.
