MA790XT-UD4P F8F BIOS - Update BACKUP BIOS
« on: July 15, 2010, 12:36:38 am »
Rig:

AMD 955 @ 4.0GHz
Corsair Dominator-GT @ 1776 7-7-7-20-1T
Silverstone 600w
5770

I had my rig turned off for 2 days while I was enlisting into the Navy... I came home today and I booted up my rig with the GT's and It just loops the image above. Just keeps Updating the Backup BIOS. I let it go for 10 minutes and It just keeps doing it. Does it on F8D, F8E, F8F BIOS. I've cleared CMOS all the ways that people have done it and what I personally know.

This only happens when I apply a overclock. It wasn't doing this 2 days ago, and now it just doesn't wanna boot into Windows.

Overclock Settings
4.0Ghz 2885Mhz NB Freq.
1.65v vDIMM
1.3 NB
Stock SB
1.4750 Vcore CPU
1.45 CPU-NB

It only boots when the BIOS is default, any major settings to OC it and just keeps doing what the image is above.

Do we take it that the Dominator GT's are a new addition to this setup? What did you have in there before?

Had some Mushkin Redlines in there, with PSC IC's, these Dominators have Elpida BBSE

two questions. Why did you change the Mushkins when I presume they were working fine? What exact model are the Doms. I take kit you bought them as a balanced kit?

Here is the exact image of the Dom's I bought. They can pass memtest all day long.

Now when I go use the x8.00 or x6.66 memory multi, sometimes it doesn't even boot now, or if I bump the Mhz to high, it does the Writing to Backup BIOS which B_BIOS is read-only

I have just been doing some checking up and the Mushkin memory is not on Gigabyte's QVL. Although that alone doesn't mean they are incompatible it is an indication. You can check here: http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Memory/motherboard_memroy_ga-ma790xt-ud4p.pdf

There is no mention of the motherboard at all on the Mushkin site: http://www.mushkin.com/Memory/Configurator/Gigabyte/Motherboards/GA-K--GA-M--GA-N-Motherboards.aspx

Therefore i would think that your problem revolves around a motherboard/memory incompatibility.

Are you talking about the Mushkin ram being incompatible or Corsair?

As I stated before, this only started yesterday. Before that, the Mushkin ram has been in there for nearly 3 months.

Sorry my bad, I meant the Corsair Doms. The CMG4GX3M2A1600C7 modules are not listed on either of the websites as being compatible. So that is probably your problem.
