SSD driver/tweaks for GA-P55A-UD3?

SSD driver/tweaks for GA-P55A-UD3?
« on: November 23, 2010, 10:50:50 am »
First time SSD user here...
I'm about to install an OCZ Vertex 2 SSD on a GA-P55A-UD3 Rev2.

Just wondering what drivers/tweaks I need to get the most out of the SSD?

Hi
This is a huge subject and something that I cannot answer in a few lines here, but it has been covered in depth on other threads so I would advise that you do a search of the forum and you should find copious amounts of good advice.

Myself and others covered it recently on the thread in the AMD section for soarwitheagles.

It was a pretty broad question, sorry :)

My main question is: is there a specific driver I should use for SSDs + Gigabyte boards, or do I just use the Intel Rapid Storage driver?
Do I even need to install a driver for my SSD?

I'm not using RAID. Just a single SSD to hold Windows 7 64.

Ok  no problem then.

No you don't need to use any specific driver for your SSD but you can choose to set up the port it is attached to as either IDE or AHCI mode. There is not a great deal of difference in them apart for AHCI allows you to use the HotSwap feature and is very slightly faster. This choice is made in the BIOS.

I would recommend connecting it to the first port on the Intel ICH10R southbridge controller for the best speed and reliability. It will also transfer the TRIM commands that are needed for the health of the drive.
