GA-X58A-UD3R USB(Mouse/Keyboard)/Ethernet not working
« on: March 06, 2011, 09:16:49 am »
Hello!

My current problem just came up recently when I started my computer this morning to find my mouse/keyboard (USB 2.0) not working at the Bios Screen. However for some strange reason at the Windows Login Screen the keyboard/mouse turns on then stops working after logging into Windows including the ethernet not functioning. I couldn't even restart or shutoff my computer at this point unless I manually pressed the power button. This kept happening multiple times until I started fiddling around with the Mouse/Keyboard cables and ethernet cord. Alas, whenever I had my ethernet unplugged and the keyboard/mouse plugged in it started to function normally. I am pretty stumped at why this suddenly happened to my brand new computer (1 month old)  ???

My hardware:
GA-X58A-UD3R (rev 2.0)
INTEL I7 950
A-DATA DDR3 1600 6GB (3x 2GB)
EVGA GeForce GTX 460  1GB
Windows 7 Home OS

Any ideas of what could be causing the problem?  :'(
Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

It sounds like a mouse/keyboard problem where it is in some conflict with the LAN drivers. I would suggest updating the BIOS using QFlash to the latest version and then updating all your drivers also. A good place to start if nothing else. ;)

Thank you for the response!

Is there a link for instructions on how to update the BIOS for this motherboard? (Pretty computer illiterate  :'( ) And is there a specific BIOS update that I need to use or would the one on the website be sufficient?

Thank you once again!

The only BIOS version listed on our website is FF. If you have anything other than that installed then it would be worth downloading and flashing the existing one. There are instructions on the FAQ section for how to go about it.

BIOS FF   http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3449&dl=1#bios

You don't say whether you are running the windows 7 32 or 64 bit version otherwise I could have posted a link to the drivers also.

Hi,
I think this problem is similar to this:

http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,3414.0.html

Some other people (including me) are having these kind of problems. Its the same motherboard.

Often a complete cold boot will clear the problem initially but it probably will come back.
