Hi again and sorry about the confusion.  :P

First off I don't believe this is a BIOS issue and checking for the motherboard you are running, the only version that is available for your board is the F1 anyway.

Believe it or not, I think the amount of RAM you are running is the cause of the problem. Try removing one of the sticks and see if that helps.

Just had the blue screen of death whilst drivers etc were being set up ready to install. I will try other ram module and see if that works.

If you are getting a BSOD try and catch the error number if you can and post back with it.

Hey guys. After hunting around in between other things i have found the good old instruction manual. Apparently you need a set-up disc with SATA/RAID controller driver floppy disc. Unfortunately you have to but a SATA floppy drive, which i have not got. I mean really. Just silly that a small paragraph of 4 lines explaing how to install XP. Thank you for all your help and support, much appreciated your rapid responses. I will let you know how things go with the installation. It says:

Copy the driver for the SATA controller from the motherboard driver disk to a floppy disk (for Windows XP). Driver from BootDrv\UDA\WinXP\sataraid to floppy disk.
Restart system. When asked press F6 as soon as you see "Press F6 to install 3rd party SCSI or RAID driver". Insert floppy and follow instructions.

Again many thanx for you help and support

Mick

Hi again,

yes, if you are trying to install in AHCI mode or RAID then you do need to add the drivers at F6 during Windows XP install. I don't think you need to add drivers if you are installing in IDE Mode but, it's so long since I did an XP install I can't honestly remember.

Hi Mick,

the error code you have posted is telling you that there is a driver error. Not surprising as you are having issues loading any!

Having looked through the user's manual for your motherboard, I have to say that the information regarding BIOS settings is pretty vague and I haven't actually played with your motherboard so it's going to be a little bit of guess work here I'm afraid.

In BIOS, under Integrated Peripherals make sure that the NV SATA Raid function is disabled. If it is set to disabled then try a little experimentation by enabling this feature and then disabling the NV SATA 1 Primary Raid and the NV SATA 1 Secondary RAID. Do the same for the NV SATA2 Primary and Secondary RAID controller.

Once you have done that try installing XP again and see if you still get the same error. If you have a USB pendrive, you should be able to use that, instead of a floppy drive, to install drivers via F6 on the Windows OS Install.
