GA-EP45T-DS3R memory supports???
« on: November 25, 2011, 09:46:48 am »
Hello,

I got a Gigabyte GA-EP45T-DS3R board with Intel Q6600 Quad Core processor. I currently have 4GB (2 x 2gb) DDR3 1333mhz OCZ3x13334GK memory.
For whatever reasons, I couldn't get the memory to overclock even to 3 ghz. I am looking to upgrade to DDR3 1600mhz 8GB (2 x 4gb) or 16GB (4 x 4gb). All the 8GB module DDR3 1600 memory I have seen online indicate for P55 above motherboard. Are they compatible with the P45 motherboard like this one?

The spec on this motherboard indicate it can support up to 16gb of DDR3. The spec said.

4 x 1.5v DDR3 DIMM socket supporting up to 16 gb of system memory.
Support for DDR3 1900 (OC)/1600/1333/1066/800 mhz memory modules.

Thanks for the support.

Hi camcafe,  ;)

Welcome to  the forum,

If I check on this webpage :
http://download.gigabyte.asia/FileList/Memory/motherboard_memory_ga-ep45t-ds3r.pdf

I view a brand model like a PATRIOT PVS32G1866LLK for exemple ....
So I check on website : http://patriotmemory.com/products/specs/PVS1866MHz.pdf

I find then this memory have a possibility to run at :

SPEED
PC3-15000 (1866MHz)
MEMORY TIMINGS
8-8-8-24
VOLTAGE SETTINGS
1.9V

So if you Overclocking your cpu (and ram ???) you have a possibility to up 1.9 volt. Whit this ram, of course.

But is not impossible, oc cpu (and ram) with a official ram DDR3 - 1.5V

So, check on Overclocking motherboards with Intel processors section in this Forum Or
Use a Search page with key words : EP45 DDR3 timing volt ....

When your mobo is started, in past time, the DDR3 have a 1.8V . Now the volt is 1.5 to 1.65 volts, generally.
Is not a problem.

Forgot your motherboard accept only Dual channel memory architecture.

I find, by exemple :
http://www.corsair.com/memory/intel-memory-upgrades/dual-channel-intel-memory-upgrade-kits.html

I check a picture of your motherboard :
http://www.gigabyte.us/fileupload/product/2/2851/958.jpg

The space around the bank of ram is clear.
You have a possibility to buy a ram with heat spreader or no.

So if you a not sure, about brands models , come back here again with a web link (choose your desires model before ...)
