GA-Z68AP-D3 Freeze PC
« on: February 16, 2012, 03:26:57 am »
Hi

From 2 weeks ago now , my pc just freeze , on internet, watching video (emiting strange noise) or without doing anything....

My specs:

W7 Ultimate x64 SP1
GA-Z68AP-D3 1155(REV 1.0)
Intel Core I5 2500K 3.3Ghz
Gigabyte GeForce GT 430 1GB GDDR3
G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 8GB 2x4GB
Gigabyte Odin 720W
Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H100
NZXT FS Silent Series 200mm
Corsair 500R Carbide
LCD OKI 42"

Lian Li EX-503 5xHD SATA USB 3.0 (1TB,2Tb,3TB , all 3 WD Caviar Green)
StarTech Hub 4 Puertos USB 3.0
2 external HDD USB 2.0 cases
Hdd ATA&SATA Dock USB 2.0

-----------

Mother board and graphics has been changed for new ones a few weeks ago for USB 3.0 Problems.

Since i reconnected all hardware and start to get the freezing problem.

I thought it was the graphic card so i decided to try with pc:
W7 ultimate x86 SP1
Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H  AM3
AMD Phenom II 965 X4 Quad Core 3.4Ghz
Kingston HyperX 2GB DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 2GB

Graphic was working fine but found some differences between the bios setup and decided to try the same value on my pc.
I changed the VGA cable for HDMI connection and the graphics seems worst than before.
Graphics drivers updated to latest
Now the pc still freeze from time to time and have to restart it, but it also, sometimes, show me a brand new blue screen with a USB 3.0 error.

Tried XP vista and fresh w7 without success
Still have to try pc without connecting any externals devices..

-------------

I can send both items in guarantee and get new ones but I am not sure now witch one is failing

Thanks

Both systems are failing, or what?   Sorry, it's a bit unclear which you are using, or both.

Are you using the latest BIOS, if not updating may help.   It could also be an incompatibility with the USB 3.0 hub, do you have issues it you leave it disconnected?

Have had the same happen to me twice now within a few days.

I've got the same MB with 2500K cpu and 2x 4GB of Kingston PC3-10700 memory.

I've had 2 few times when I booted my system there was a message about "a problem with the motherboard after being overclocked" or something (mine isn't overclocked) and the memory was set at 1333MHz instead of the 1600MHz it really is.

So maybe there's some problem with memory?

Update to the latest BIOS, this will help!  And be sure you load optimized defaults after the update, then save/apply/reboot BACK to the BIOS.   Once in the BIOS again set your SATA settings, and then any other changes you need to make, then save/apply/reboot to windows and then shut down.

Please update using Qflash or DOS!

Then update the backup BIOS to match the MAIN BIOS, as shown in this video.  You may need to use a PS/2 keyboard, or USB to PS/2 adapter

I'm getting exactly the same thing GA-Z68AP-D3 Rev 2.0  with i5 2500k, Windows 7 64 bit.

The system is completely stable until I load the VGA drivers - then a few minutes later it freezes solid.
If I remove the VGA drivers and just run with the stock Windows 7 X64 VGA driver it is OK but of course it's no use to me like that.
I raised a ticket with support but they seem unable to reproduce the problem.

I've upgraded to the latest bios and drivers - no improvement

Hi

Correct me if I am wrong but I think that you are using a Western Digital Green drive for the boot drive. If correct then this could be your problem, as these drives are not for boot drives but for data storage only. They keep trying to power down in keeping with their "green" credentials.
