GA-MA770UD3 where is Bios Flash Protection? any security risks without it?

hi, I have a GA-MA770-UD3 (rev. 2.1).
I don't find any Flash Protection in the bios.
could my pc risk without such an option or it is a marginal risk?

Hi !
I have had version 2.0 of the board and indeed it has no Bios Flash protection option in the BIOS ,but Gigabyte boards have the dual BIOS stuff that theoretically protects against viruses and allows recovery after a bad flash.

On the other hand that option (Bios Flash protection) is usually found in AMI BIOS-es and your board has Award BIOS.

In my opinion there is no risk of BIOS temper unless you re doing something wrong. Not running suspect software should protect you against problems of such sort.

Hi

As Vezina says the Backup BIOS should keep you safe and even in worst case scenario it can always be used to reflash the Main BIOS and bring it back to normallity.

hi, my concerns are not about bad flashing issues but about possible security risks.
I mean if a bios is write-enabled then it may be altered.. I'm a little paranoid about pc security....
on the other hand, keeping a bios write-protected, it doesn't provide the dmi pool data to the system during the boot.
I don't know how important are the dmi pool data to the system (to say the truth I have kept the bios write-protected for years on another pc without any noticeable issues to report). may anyone explain what is the importance of the dmi pool data to the system?
