Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P 16 GB MEMORY
« on: December 28, 2012, 12:08:01 pm »
i did a system scan over on the crucail website to see how much RAM my Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P motherboard could take , the scan returned 16GB maximum so i went ahead and purchased the recommended DDR3 memory shown here http://www.crucial.com/uk/systemscanner/viewscanbyid.aspx?id=74C261B731D926C3 upon installing the memory my system will not boot, i have since tried just one of the 8GB sticks and it wont boot, tried updating my bios but it cannot because i get an error saying that it wont work on my x64 machine when trying to run the installer, in my manual it says that 8GB of memory is the max supported but over on http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4125&dl=1#sp it says 16GB . can anyone help me with this ?

sorry for so many links etc just wanted to be clear

Might be worth contacting Crucial, with the links you have given us.
THEY said the MoBo would take this RAM
THEY flogged you the RAM
THEY could at least advise why their RAM has stopped your PC in its tracks
Best of luck with it

Update the bios from the bios. Chuck the bios file onto a fat32 formatted USB stick, reboot into the bios. There should be a utility in there to flash the bios.

While in there lift the DDR volts to 1.6 and see how it goes ;)
