PCI-E 2.0 graphics card not working in GA-H97-HD3 (1.0)

Does the Gigabyte GA-H97-HD3 (1.0) motherboad support the Gigabyte GV-N440D3-1GI graphics card?

As I read this motherboard supports PCIEX16 which conforms to PCI Express 3.0 standard and other slot PCIEX4 which conforms to PCI Express 2.0 standard. The graphics card is PCI-E 2.0, but I have tried putting it in both slots and none of them work, just black screen after powering on. Even tried setting in BIOS / Miscellaneous Settings / PCIe Slot Configuration to Gen 2 and still nothing.

The same graphics card is working fine in GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 (rev. 1.0) motherboard.

Im not an expert in this forum, just joined. But from my expierence it will work because the gpu has a pcie x16 gen 2 slot and the motherboard has a pcie x16 gen 3 slot. The motherboard is backworks compatible, so it will work

Well, it doesn't. I also thought that it should work. The whole internet is full of text that gen2 card should work in gen3 slot, but then after a lot of searching I found some posts where was said that gen3 have some different voltages or something than previous gens and is why it could be the case of not always being backwards compatible.

As I said the card itself works fine on other other mobo with gen2, pity I don't have gen3 card to test.

Using motherboard's onboard graphics for now, but I must find out why it is not working and is it really the case of different PCI-E generations.
