Motherboard Power Switch

Hi Guys,

I have a project with my 2 mini gigabyte GA-H97N-wifi.

1. Is it possible to connect 2 motherboards to a single power switch, basically the idea is to get 2 motherboards power up with a push of single switch button  .

2. Is the power switch are momentary connection or full time circuit connection


Can you guys share any experienced or knowledge on this ?

1.  Technically, yes.  The power switch is simply a momentary contact across the 2 pins on the FP header.  But your success will depend on what you are using for a power source.  Same PSU for both boards?

Thanks for the reply clutch... The PSU are separated for each motherboard, means I use 1 PSU per motherboard =)

Should still be OK, I guess...  What you are doing when you press the power button momentarily (or short the two pins on the header) is close the circuit between the green wire and black wire (ground) on the 24 pin connector from the PSU.  That is a signal to the PSU to turn on.  The only issue is that you will be paralleling the two low voltage power sources since you will be using two PSUs.  Hopefully they have the same signal voltage for the ON circuit.
