Can I unlock my base multiplier?

Can I unlock my base multiplier?
« on: April 21, 2016, 05:14:48 am »
Hey all.

I just installed a GA-Z97X Gaming 5 as part of a piecemeal upgrade, and I'm trying to get more oomf out of my 3220 dual-core. To do that I want to OC the cpu multiplier, but it's already preset maxed out at 30 and 3000mhz.

Can I unlock it to get a higher value and would doing so be a bad idea for my system's generally health?

Thanks.

These are valid questions, but its not going to yield significant results, if its even possible.

Your base clock is 3.3....  the multiplier on the CPU however is locked.  Couple of things.  Your BIOS rev and/or memory you are running might limit the max multiplier available.    300Mhz is insignificant and not worth the trouble pursuing.

My recommendation.  Invest in better graphics, SSD, memory and/or ultimately a more powerful processor.  ;)
