NVMe support for old GA-X48-DS4 motherboard

I am trying to boot from a Samsung 960 EVO M.2 PCIe x4 NVMe SSD.

Can the BIOS support it? It is currently F3B version.
Motherboard  GA-X48-DS4 rev. 1.3

I can install OS to the disk by loading the driver during the installation process, but i am unable to see the SSD device in BIOS, nor have i been able to boot from it.

Any suggestions (besides getting a new MB)? Do i need a modded BIOS?

NVMe is not supported on this MB.  Due to its age, its safe to say this will never be implemented.

Finally got the nvme to boot.

In short, the solution is to boot (with legacy BIOS) to a usb drive that contains another bootloader (i use clover with nvme driver and windows efi bootloader). The windows bootloader needs an entry to boot from the nvme, this can be done quite conveniently with a program called bootice.

Anyway,  the system now boots to nvme and deliveres disk drive speeds up to 814MB/s. The nvme could do more but the MB has pci-e 2.0 which is the bottleneck.
