GA-X79-UD3 LAN driver for XP
« on: June 09, 2017, 08:57:56 am »
I downloaded the LAN driver for the GA-X79-UD3 which, according to the downloads section, contains drivers for Windows XP (I'm going to dual boot with Windows 8).

I clicked autorun.exe and was presented with a window with 3 options, all of which were just view this and read that, no actual driver installation option. I checked through the entire contents of the download, and there was nothing for XP whatsoever. The motherboard, CPU and audio drivers are all XP compatible and installed, so where is the LAN driver for XP promised in the download description? That information would appear to be incorrect. Should I try to find an older version?

Do you have an unknown device under network adapters in Device manager?

If so, extract the v18.5 zip to your desktop.  Right click on the unknown device and select update driver.  Then point it to the Intel > Pro 1000 > Win32 or Winx64 folder...  then NDIS62,63 or 64.  I'll bet one of these folders will contain the LAN drivers you need to get the adapter installed.  The ProSet Application is old (obsolete) and was only ever needed to enable VPN on adapters of the day.

v18.3 is also an option.

****Edit...  if you need drivers for 8...  the above doesn't apply.  Use the steps above after downloading zip for W8/8.1 which is likely the same zip.
