GA-EP41-UD3L (rev 1.0) RAM problem
« on: February 09, 2017, 04:41:45 pm »
Hello, I bought (few months ago) used GA-EP41-UD3L. Motherboard is OK, but I want to upgrade its RAM. I know this chipset has its limitations, so I have to buy just 2 double sided RAM modules. I want maximum RAM, so it is 8gb. Problem is that 2x4 DDR2 are very very expensive, so I try to find something cheaper. There are cheap RAM modules on ebay; - and this is main part of the question - in this motherboard memory support list is Samsung M378T5263AZ3-CF7. I find one with same numbers (M378T5263AZ3-CF7) on ebay, but there is "AMD only". So...will this modules be ok with my chipset? Thanks for your answer.

This pretty much guarantees high density ram will not work with your board in a 4x 2GB config.

* Because of Intel chipset limitation, please use single-side memory module if four memory modules are to be installed.

Im having the same issue and found the same Samsung RAM. They work but with 2x2GB only instead of 4GB.
My old board has only 2 slots but supports up to 8GB.

How can i find "old" 4GB single-side memory and know that it its single-side DDR2?
Or is only the "high density" the problem? (right now i use 2x 2GB DUAL Channel RAM)

Hello,

When using 4x memory modules they need to be single sided / single rank.

For using 2x memory modules you are OK to use double sided / dual rank.
The Samsung modules are 4GB 2Rx8 <Dual rank.
