GA-785GT-UD3H 145 watts

Does the GA-785GT-UD3H REV 1.1 support Crossfirex ?

Also can it use a 145w cpu (Im sure thats why I bought this board , I remember it used to say it could support 145W cpu)?

Not sure,

maybe costing difference is due to on-board graphics and the 785 chipset versus the 770 chipset and no on-board graphics.
But...... I am only guessing at this!

I think I should have taken up another hobby, Brain Surgery, Quantum Foam Mechanics or something similar. I'm sure they would have been MUCH easier to understand than computers!!!

I been doing some reseach.
A heap of website say it supports 140w cpus.
Including videos with show the box of the  board with a sticker : 140watts.

Toms hardware says it supports 140 watt cpu out of the box.

And Im sure the gigabyte website said it supported 140watts.

But on my boards box there is no 140watt sticker

Ah, the mysteries of the Gigabyte boards, it is indeed strange my friend.

Here is "evidence" that the board will support 140W CPU but, Gigabyte's own site denies this....... Maybe the image has been faked! (I don't think so!)

Have you read George Orwell's 1984? He foresaw this situation and the re-writing of information to suit.

My best guess would be that Gigabyte thought that the board would be able to handle the 140W CPU's but found out they didn't later on and revised the blurb to show this.

Not much help if you brought this board in the hope of running a 140W CPU. However, a quick check of the latest AMD CPU's that are now available shows that they are all 125W or less and this could be another reason for the change. Why offer support when AMD have changed the specs so quickly?

I was one of the poor smucks that brought an early Phenom ii X4 running at 140W, which is now sitting in a drawer, if you want to experiment and see if you can get it working in your mobo let me know!

Well I heard some one in a forum saying the 140w AMD cpu had problems with the 785GT-UD3H.
So looks like Gigabyte knew and took all support for it away...
Who knows maybe that beta bios there will be updated and 140w support will come back.
