More SATA III with X58?

Do anyone know when we get MB with more then just 2 SATA III ports for 1366 socket? There's few MB for AMD with 6x SATA III, but i7 980x > every AMD, so... I've seen some PCI-E cards with additional SATA III ports, but all I found was Asrock (which totaly sux and with old Marvell chip with lot of problems) and Asus (which works only with specified Asus MBs), so is there any chance to get something like that for GA-X58A-UD9 or all I have to do is wait dunno how long before SATA III will be populated like SATA II?

To be honest 2 SATA6 ports is more than enough for the moment because they are working even slower that the SATA2 ports when using RAID. If you check out this thread(there are others too) you will see what I mean.

Yep I readed it, but I thought its like few MBs foult not whole production omg what a marvell fail!! Ok, so I'll go with SSD in SATA III and stay with SATA II for HDD

It might be worth checking out the speed of the Intel ICH10 port as opposed to the Marvell port. Even though the ICH10 is on SATA2 I think that it has been reporting faster speeds than the Mavell SATA6!

I'm realy suprised that Gigabyte selling such a unfinished motherboard... I always thought theres nothink better ;P

Gigabyte really need to get to grips with Mavell and get the drivers updated properly. It is totally unacceptable the have SATA6 options when the SATA2 runs faster!

The Marvell chip might be ok(although I am not convinced it is that good) but the point is that the use of the chip is one thing but a poorly designed implementation of it is something else. The software needs to be rewritten so that it performs as described and advertised. It is wrong to sell a board on the attributes they have when it doesn't actually measure up.

ICH10 is faster for your SSD (Google around for results)

Also I have as yet, not found any confirmation that ATA commands (Trim) are verified working with the Marvel controller (and any Windows query of course will only show as "enabled" which does NOT necessarily mean "working).

I tested Marvel vs Intel over several days, there is no question Intel has the edge with a typical SSD.

Also remember SATA 3.0 = zero benefit for your SSD, since none of the current crap can saturate SATA 2.0

Please don't fall victim to urban myth, it pays to learn the capabilities of SATA

Yes, totally agree. A lot of bullsh1t is chucked around regarding the speeds and even though SSDs are great they have their drawbacks. I'm glad you mentioned TRIM because I haven't been able to establish whether it actually works on my Corsair 256 SSD. As you said all that you can see is that Windows has enabled it NOT that it is working. I have also established that even though in theory you shouldn't need to defrag a SSD it does actually increase the speed which again makes me wonder if TRIM is actually working.
