GA-X58A-UD3R(REV 2)-Can't boot into windows
« on: August 23, 2010, 10:02:15 am »
Hello.I hope you can help me with my problem  because i can't figure it out
Yesterday i assembled my new rig(not first time) then i installed windows 7 64bit along with the latest drivers and updates.I started my computer today and i found that i cannot boot into windows no matter what,it simply  hangs during the loading screen.I tried booting into safe mod but it also hangs.I tried booting from the installation dvd and it also hangs up.(setup and repair tool freeze)I tried the 32bit version dvd, same thing.I tried windows xp,setup up starts but then i get "A disk error occured".I disabled almost everything in BIOS(USB controllers,SATA controllers,floppy,e-sata,etc.) but again same thing happens.I also tried a different HDD but again i cannot start a new setup.
I don't get it,what causes that?It worked fine yesterday.
Specs:
GA-X58A-UD3R REV2
Core i7 920:Undervolted to 1.19,133X21.Idle ttemps are usually around 40C with idle core temps around 45C.On full load it goes around 70C.It's high but i have a broken heatsink(don't ask) and crap thermal paste.I'll get a watercooling system soon.
6GB corsair XMS3(1333MHz,1.5V) RAM(6 sticks, they had no problems on my previous motherboard)
Asus EAH4890
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB HDD(SATA 3,it worked on my previous motherboard)
Unknown brand 160GB HDD(it worked on my previous motherboard)
PSU:Silverstone DAH650,650W,54Amps on a single 12V line
P.S:I can't flash the BIOS to a newer version because i don't have access to a computer.(i am posting from the ps3 browser)

Even though your PSU is quite powerful it could be a power problem. Another thing to look at would be try removing one kit of memory and see if that makes a difference. Failing that I would check the CPU socket for any bent pins.

I just reset the cmos and it works.I'll try to find the setting that causes it.

TYhe first things to look at would be the hard drive options. Boot priority and hard drive boot sequence that type of thing.
