HELP! Fan speed 100% temp spiking 8800GTS 512

Hello, i've got a problem since yesterday. After Installing Service Pack 1 for my Win7 64bit, my graphic card went wild and put fan on 100%. It was never like that cause it was always going on auto adjustment and was always quite. I've discovered with GPU-Z that temperature readings are going wild from 0 to 64 then 128 C. It also sometimes going from 64 to 192 C. First of all i've tried reinstalling drivers to the newest ones, then put back to very old ones that are for download on the gigabyte support site. Then I've readed on the internet that for someone with the same exact graphic card, flashing bios worked out. When i've tried flashing bios that was supported on the gigabyte site it didnt work out cause it said it's a bad version of bios to my vga card. I've searched for a little longer and discovered by GPU-Z that the vendor of my GPU is ASUS. It worked, the ASUS bios could be flashed but unfortunatly it didn't help. The fan is still on 100% speed and the temp is still firing sky high... anyone some suggestions please!? i don't know what else to do. It's too loud, in that moment i'm having a headache from its loudness. Sorry for my bad english but i'm from Poland. Really need help please!

Is the Gpu under any load? Check using GPU-Z

It's on 0% up to 1% when idle...

Can you check the card in another PC ( preferably with a dfferent system or at least no service pack installed )? Otherwise a clean OS install would be the only way to check if it's the card's fault or not.

If it continues to behave like this, try flashing GPU's bios on a system that's not Win 7 with service pack. Other than that, a last resort could be taking off the heatsink and replacing thermal paste.

Myself, I have a 8600GTS in another PC with the exact same system as yours and it's working fine.

you know it's a new card it's not even having a one year of work so i don't think it's the thermal paste. I need to see if a second computer in other roon has got PCI express and i'll try to put it in there. I've flashed bios twice and it was under DOS so i don't think that win7 has got to do with it anything but it's weird that it happened when i've installed service pack 1... anyway i'll try few things... for now i'm using msi afterburner to manually put the fan on 55%. I'll give you answer when i'll check those things.

The problem is, that for some reason, your GPU temp readings are all over the place so it looks like either a software glitch or a faulty sensor. I'm not sure why there are 2 "GPU temperature" readings? Both are obviously wrong, though ( one is actually -64C ).

I don't know how it can be new when they stopped producing them a good while ago. Anyway, the thermal paste itself isn't really an issue as they're supposed to last longer than most people will use the card. Replacing it would be a last ditch effort that I'd try only if everything else failed.

The first thing to do is check it with a different system to eliminate the possibility of incompatibility.
