GTX570 OC crashing problem

Hi,

I read a bit about new GTX570 OC (factory OC) poblems on different forums. However I would like to hear from you what really I should do.

I did run 3Dmark11 and it cannot finish the test. It is crashing on the last one. Also some of the games (Company of Heroes) are crashing after 15-20 min of playing. The screen becomes black, I still can hear music but after a few second it kicking me out to windows.  It is strange because the newest products like Crysis 2 or Black Ops are running nice without any problems.

I did update on the Nvida website drivers to the newest ones and nothing changed.

Card is connected with PSU correctly.

System: Win7 64

BIOS: 70.10.17.00.03

Coud you please advise.

You don't say what motherboard you are using but make sure that you have the latest BIOS version installed.

What are the temperatures when you have these crashes ?

Sometimes people find it more stable if they clock it back to the same as a standard card.  Some then manually overclock it and get a more stable overclock than the factory one.

I spent a few extra quid to make sure it's overclocked by profesionals to the best stable option...

I don't think you quite understand how factory overclocking works. In the factory they will test the particular build of this card and then see what sort of a comfortable overclock they can generally get out of it. When that is decided they will set up the line to apply this amount of overclock to all the cards on that production run. In general they will work fine but as always some chips will OC better than others and so a small percentage will fail at some time in the future. It is quite possible that your card is one of these. I am afraid that they are not overclocked on a one off basis.

Try to monitor the temps with GPU-Z and let it log into a file.
Then fire up Furmark and start the burn in test.
This is a stability test, in the worst case scenario (it means running crysis 2 at some point).
If your temps are fine for at least 5 minutes (if they are fine let it run 10 minutes) and you see no artefacts on the rendered image then you are fine.
If Furmark shows artefacts and cooling issues you should return the card for RMA.

I did not  run this test but I did change a Voltage from 950 to 988 and it seems it resolved the problem.  Temp on GPU was 63C but it was not Crysis... Will play it tonight.

However I will run the test you mentioned as well  to check it out

Quite often a small bump in the voltage will help with stability. There have been a few reports where members have used this ploy to rid themselves of this problem.
