GA-A75M-D2H - A8-3850 How to use 2 monitor same time?
« on: September 02, 2011, 10:02:03 pm »
Hello. I am jsut bought the GA-A75M-D2H  and A8-3850. I need use the DVI port and the HDMI port at the same time. But when I am installing the drivers, and I have both monitors plug-in, catalist 11.8 cant it fails and fails. I need to let just the HDMI plug-in, and i can install the driver (with the same error) but it works... get it into 1080p(both monitor are TVs). But now they are working... I can not make the Catalyst Control Center detect the both screens... I already try to activate the option inside the BIOS DualLink... but it become worst... only DVI works... How I can do it?

Best Regards.

Roberto.

Hi there,

You can not use the DVI & HDMI ports at the same time. You will need to use the D-Sub with a DVI convertor if you want to use HDMI at the same time.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Which one it is the maximum resolution I can send through D-Sub? I need 1080p in both monitors...
Any another Ideas? Install a external (not A-8) graphic card? Can I have 2 graphic card working at same time (A-8) and another (PCI-express)?
What make the function of the BIOS Duallink DVI? I thought I could use 2 monitors over DVI!!!!! I just bought these motherboard for these reason... ;(

¿Why the catalist fails when I try to install? It fails with "AMD drag and drop"

Report of Catalist

Thanks...

Hi there,

sorry I 'm not familiar with this board so can not say what the maximum graphics output from the D-Sub connector is.

From what I have read the term "Dual Graphics" is a form of CrossFire capability where you can add the HD 6450, HD 6570, or HD 6670 with the integrated graphics on the APU to improve performance. If you add a higher 6 series card than these, then the intergrated graphics mode shutsdown as the Graphics card is more powerful than the on-board chip.

Adding one of these 6 series Graphics cards to your system will get you your dual monitor set-up at your desired screen resolution and, if you attach one monitor to the Graphics Card and the other to the on-board graphics port, then you can choose which is the master. The master GPU is critical in determining optimal performance in situations where the application may only recognize a single GPU. For example, older games may not have been written to take advantage of multiple GPUs, so will only use a single GPU for generating game graphics.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Really I no need big graphical power... In one Tv, via HDMI it must work desktop (1920x1080) with sound... And in the DVI another TV play videos 1920x1080... That I think the power of A8 it is enought...

¿which one it is the cheap solution? ¿Another graphic card?¿Or D-sub cable?

¿That it is real? I can install something liek a Ati 6950 over Fusion platform and he will choose the right one in he right moment?

best regards and  thanks!

The cheapest option is the one that actually works for your set-up. If your TV can take a D-Sub cable then yes, that would be the cheapest option.

Yes, the APU graphics will be turned off if you install a higher powered Graphics Card such as the 6950. This means that all of your graphics processing will be done byu the installed Graphic Card and not by the onboard graphics option.

However, if you install a lower spec'd card such as the 6570 then you can use both graphics card and the on-board graphics and you can decide which is the primary option.

I think i not explain right... What it could be perfetc... It is all teh time on board graphic card works... and when you need power... start another graphic card working... and it is possible even make an sli! will eb the perfect... like tha nvidia technology that never worked right... even Ati had some of it... but not so flesible as i desire...

No, sadly you can't have the on-board graphics working all the time and then start-up a second card when you need the extra power, but it would be nice if you could.

On my own system, I am running two 6770 Graphic Cards with the CrossFire option disabled (although I have them linked together for Crossfire capabilities) and I am running 3 monitors. If I want to run a game or another graphics intensive programme, I can switch to Crossfire Using the Catalyst Control Centre. This disables 2 of the monitors and all of the graphics power is used for a single monitor.

This is probably the kind of thing that you are after and the only way that I think it might work is if you added a 6570 and had one monitor attached to the onboard HDMI and the second one attached to the 6570. But I am only guessing about this and further research would need to be undertaken to make certain before spending any money, just in case I am wrong.

Hi, I just bought the GA-A75M-D3H with the same A8-3850 CPU and have a similar problem: I want to boot my host OS (Linux) with the APU graphics as primary display controller and initially just leave the second graphics controller without any driver loaded to allow it later to be
passed through to a virtual machine running on the same host, to achieve a multiseat/multiOS configuration.
The second graphics card is one of the least expensive cards I was able to find, an  nVidia GT218 [GeForce 210] (rev a2) .

However whatever settings I try in the BIOS, I end up with a system where the APU graphics seems to be disabled?
(not visible with lspci, no memory allocated for it)
Is it possible to override this behaviour in any way?  I hav tried pulling out the nvidia board and configure the BIOS with IRX settings to manual UMA sizes and "onboard" as default but when I plug in the nvidia board again, the onboard setting seems to be ignored and
even the IRX section of the BIOS is gone?

Any hints on this appreciated,
