Hey guys. I just built my wife a new computer (long overdue) so she can continue gaming with me. Here are the parts:
Intel Core i5 2400 Sandy Bridge
GA-Z68M-D2H mobo
G.skill Ripjaws X Series (2 x 4gb)
EVGA GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores
SilverStone Strider Plus 500w PSU
Almost everything works great... Processor is surprisingly fast at default clock, ram runs at 2133 no problem, Windows 7 installed without issue...
But for SOME reason the motherboard will not acknowledge the graphics card as anything other than just a "standard vga adapter"... It's driving me nuts. I've swapped virtually everything in the system out with what I am running in my rig, and the ONLY combo that doesn't work is the gigabyte mobo with the evga card. It's the weirdest thing. I toss in my old GTX 285, it runs no problem, recognizes it and installs drivers right away. I toss in a 9600 GT, runs fine. I put the GTX 560 in, and it goes back to just thinking it's the standard adapter.
So I start to think maybe the card itself is jacked up... So I throw it in my rig with an old Core 2 duo E8400, XFX 680i tri-sli mobo, 4 gigs of ram, 1000w OCZ PSU, and it recognizes it right away and functions perfectly normally... The card is fine... Infact, I'm running it in my system right now, and have had NO issues.
So then I start thinking maybe (for some reason) the PSU I got my wife is messed up. So I tear apart my system, throw my 1000w in my wife's system with the GTX 560.... doesn't recognize... I then throw my wife's SilverStone PSU into MY system with MY GTX 285... no problems.... Then the GTX 560.... no problems...
Something is SERIOUSLY driving me insane, I spent literally the entire day on this, with everything in every combination, and that posted build at the top is the only one what will not run correctly. Am I missing something? I couldn't find anyone else with compatibility issues online - infact, that same build is quite common and everyone has had positive feedback.
I also flashed the latest bios, F5, to no avail. I am open to ANYONE who can shed some light into this issue... If I was retarded and somehow overlooked something, please don't hesitate to make fun of me, but for the love of god, help me get my wife's computer to work for her...
