G41MT-USB 3 and video card
« on: May 07, 2012, 07:13:07 pm »
I have tried two different video cards, and with neither on can I get the BIOS boot display, with the video card installed.  If the video card is not installed, then I can see the BIOS, through the onboard video.

This problem is similar to one posted before, but never resolved.

As near as I can tell, regardless of the BIOS settings, any initial boot screens are not visible when a video card is installed.

Has anyone had success with this MB and a video card?

Thanks.

Hi and welcome.

Use a PS2 keyboard if possible.

Use the latest BIOS version available.  When running the update make sure that you use QFlash and disable the Keep DMI settings on the QFlash homescreen.

Load Optimised BIOS defaults after the upgrade.

Have you made sure that the graphics card is setup in the BIOS as the primary graphics adapter ?

Also make sure that it is set to the PCIEx16_1 slot so it can find it.

-using PS/2 keyboard already (but tried USB)

-BIOS is F1 (current)

-tried optimized, fail safe and also tweaked to what I think would work the best.  No help.

-Set PEG to be primary (call INIT) graphics card

-not sure what you mead by setting to PCIEx16_1.  BIOS offers PCI or PEG.  Tried both, no difference, but I think the PEG choice is the right one. (parameter is :Init Display First  [PCI | Onboard | PEG])

What type of cable are you using to connect the graphics card to your monitor?

Also can you tell us what Graphics card it is and what type of monitor/TV?

That would help  ;D

I am using a miniDP to DP cable, connecting a NEC EX231X to a XFX Radeon HD-677X-Z5F3 card.
