new install of windows 7 OEM onto new samsung 830 series 128 GB SSD drive. Bios settings have dvd drive as first boot HDD as second. HDD priority has SSD as first. AHCI is set for drive type and was set before install. The problem is that when the bios setting for sata 4/5 is set to sata the pc won't boot. If there is any CD in the optical drive, it boots normally. When the option is changed to IDE the PC boots with no disk in the tray but noticeably slower. The dvd drive is SATA so it should work on the sata setting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
