3 Broken pins on CPU socket GA P67A-UD7-B3
« on: September 19, 2011, 03:46:52 pm »
OK, have broken 3 of the pins on my LGA 1155 Socket, damn those things are flimsy, if you bend one good luck straightening it! word to the wise, do not use a cloth near the socket without a protection cover in place. OK so what are my options? RMA for a replacement socket? Cost?

Appreciate your help...

Hi

These pins are easilly damaged and as you mentioned it is not a good idea to uise anything around the socket without the protective plate installed or the CPU inserted.

As you are from UK so I think your best course of action is to contact RMA section:

returns@gbt-tech.co.uk

If there are still any problems then contact our Forum Admin runn3R and see if he can arrange to help you out. I know he has been instrumental in the past with helping  members who have damaged socket pins.

Hi

We do hear of quite a few instances of this type of thing happening and it does make you wonder if some retailers are using it as an easy way out. I really don't know why though as the baords are covered by the manufacturers unless of course the problem runs deeper... :-\

A lot of the pins are not in use with the current processors so it could well be that the ones you damaged are not needed.  ;)
