onboard graphics not working gigabyte ga-75m-ds2
« on: October 30, 2012, 10:18:49 am »
hi all,

i just built a cheap pc with

amd a6-3500
 gigabyte ga-75m-ds2
kingston valueram 4 gb 1333
 be quiet 350w psu

when i turned it on, with dvi plugged in to the mobo, i couldn't get any video. I then put in an old gs8400, and with that connected i've been able to flash the bios and change the setting 'initial first display' to 'onboard', still doesnt work.

wondering if anybody has any ideas on how to get the onboard graphics working?

thanks

Buy a processor that the board supports is first thing i would do. The a6-3500 isnt supported on that board from what i can see. The a6- 5400 is but that is it for the a6 series.

Sorry Autotech but I will have to disagree with you.
From what I can see the CPU is supported on this motherboard unless I'm looking at the wrong one:
Rev 2.0 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4190&dl=1#ov
CPU Support List http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4190

Rev 3.0 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4381#ov

I faced a similar problem but on a different motherboard and what I did was reflash the BIOS with the GPU installed but instead of rebooting once I had flashed the BIOS I shutdown the PC completely, removed the GPU and connected the monitor to the on-board graphics then restarted the system. This seemed to cure the problem and I have had no issues since then.

Easy done with the model numbers being so similar and it is one of the reasons why we ask for FULL system details to be posted when asking for help.

It could of course be the case that I have looked up the wrong board, as without the full model number I've had to assume it is this one the OP is asking about.  ???

I also like to have full specs it does make it easier but it was my fault being in a hurry that late at night. I had to sort thru his other 3 or 4 post on HWforums and toms and clicked the next link down for motherboard without crosschecking. I promise not to be so sloppy in the future...lol. Thank you for catching that Absic wouldnt be so embarresed if dark would of caught it.
